# Plan input serial numbers

There is an option to add a serial number or name to plan inputs:

This feature allows for adding more granularity when tracking the status on these line items. For instance, your plan may be tracking several assemblies for a sale/milestone. Adding a serial number or name allows your team to discuss the deliverable with a name.

### Serial number + hard allocations

Serial numbers can only be added to plan inputs that have a quantity of 1. When a serial number is added to a plan input, it also ensures that existing inventory with that part + serial combination are hard allocated to the plan.
