With the deployment of automation, the status of part-procedure relationships set up in the procedure screen will be automatically set to APPROVED. Additionally, the optional/required field for these relationships will be filled in automatically. This can be configured for each type of procedure (TEST, BUILD, INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE) to accommodate unique use cases. This automation is ideal if the individuals creating the part-procedure relationships are also the ones approving them.
Automatically initiating a quality inspection upon part receipt ensures that all incoming parts meet your defined requirements. For this automation to work, three conditions must be satisfied:
The relationship must exist.
The part-procedure relationship must be APPROVED.
The part and procedure must be REQUIRED to execute together.
Approving and requiring this relationship through automation eliminates four button clicks and ensures that inspection rules are always generated once a part-procedure relationship is created.
For the initial setup, such as populating the ION API keys and client secret, please see this generalized documentation here.
The unique aspect of this automation exists for each type of procedure that can be created. These types are: TEST, BUILD, INSPECTION, and MAINTENANCE. Repeat the setup outlined bellow for each type of procedure. We'll use INSPECTION type procedures as an example.
The first toggle "Apply Automation to Inspection Procedures?" allows you to define if you want the automation to apply to this type of procedure. In the state shown above (ON - Green), the auto-approve automation will apply to INSPECTION type procedures.
The second toggle "Inspection - Set as Required?" allows you to determine wether this part procedure relationship is required or optional. Required is to say that every time this procedure is used, the part will be created. What it looks like to manually change this in ION is pictured below.
By following the above instructions you'll have determined your settings for INSPECTION type procedures, repeat the same steps for all the other types of procedures to complete the setup of this automation!
